Insanity

So, in theory I am "allowed" to start running again this weekend. The Podiatrist said I could give it a shot. This leaves me running in the "improper" shoes however, and my new (although still not what the podiatrist ordered - it is closer) shoes will not be here until next friday.    I have stated I am going back to exercising - even if I can't run - so it raises the question of WHAT to do?

Well, some of you may remember (that is if you are the one person that read my blog back then), that I once thought about doing P90X or Shaun T.'s Insanity.  At that time, in the long long ago, I did the fitness test for Insanity.

I hurt for four days.  I mean, I hurt ALOT for four days.  I decided I wasn't insane enough to continue.

Well, now I have decided that desperation can be a form of insanity - right?  So since I can't run I broke those Insanity DVDs out last night and did the fitness test.  OMG.  I am so glad my son was there. He was able to get me water, fan me and offer to get me a bucket when it looked like I needed one (thankfully I didn't actually have him get one - as I didn't need one - but It was close at one point.)  I couldn't finish the end-of-test stretchign as if I didn't sit down, i would have needed that bucket.

Yup.  This is going to be fun.  And No, I'm not being sarcastic.

Another great thing? Is when I can start running again,t here is absolutely no reason at all  can't do the Insanity workout in the morning - and run in the evening!   From what I have read online, that urge to toss your cookies does fade toward the end of the second week.   So does the intense agony of moving following the workout as it moves just toward an ache. Well, until the second month that is.

I am making sure I have arch support while I do it, as there is still jogging in place and the like.  I am attempting to focus on landing lightly (he stresses that) to help minimize the intense impact as well.

There definintely seems to be a difference between a runner's high, and an Insanity Urge to Hurl...  But I've only got 60 more days right?
